You should say what the purpose of the meeting would be.  I suggest
"...opportunity, in order to reach a common understanding of the future
direction of Evoting in Ireland."

Link the second sentence (really a sentence fragment) to the first
sentence with a dash, colon or comma.

Anything can be rationally disputed.  How about "rationally rejected"?

I think it's a fine idea to send such a letter, by the way.
