font-family:Arial'>The Minister was interviewed by Ursula Halligan on TV3’s
‘The Political Party’ this afternoon. Ursula turned to eVoting as
the last major topic of the interview and the Minister was noticeably reticent
and not gung-ho at all at all. Ursula pushed him to commit to use of the Nedap
system for the EU constitution referendum (likely to be late 2005) but refused
any commitment and stated ‘it will be ready when it is ready’. The
most pushy point he made was a single comment that ‘It is a very good
system’. He repeatedly emphasised the importance of rebuilding public
confidence, and implied that this was an essential component of any roll-out.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
